Abstract

This study explored the influence of workplace wellness programs on the personal behaviors of employees. The study also explored the ways in which changes in employee health can be measured to determine the success of such wellness programs. Twenty employees participated in the study via survey as well as follow up interviews for any needed clarification. The participants of the study indicated an improvement in overall health since becoming involved in the wellness program. The program was credited as a motivating factor in the increase of healthy physical activities as well as being a support system for making better choices. Through the utilization of various initiatives by the company this employer, the participating employees are gaining the rewards. Participant responses indicate an effective program is in place by the employer providing employees with effective ways to change their health for the better. The results of the study indicate that the Agenda Setting Theory cannot only be applied to the mass media but also the goals and agenda of the corporate world.
