International Journal of Servant-Leadership

Abstract

The primary aim of this article was to describe how the policies regarding same-sex marriage and unions in the Christian Methodist Episcopal church are exclusionary and oppressive. There are studies that reference the psychological and spiritual harm that the church causes when queer individuals are not embraced. Nevertheless, a secondary goal of this article is share how the church, through servant-leadership principles can explore forgiveness seeking and an affirmative theological position of inclusion whereby queer congregants are cared for and supported.
