Abstract
Innovation has become crucial for the organizations in the competitive environment because of its key role to enhance productivity and efficiency (Ahmed et al., 2020; Sarkees & Hulland, 2009; Souto, 2015) and due to its importance for organizational survival during the crisis period (Am et al., 2020; Lee & Trimi, 2021). Organizations adopt innovative ideas, products, technologies and processes from both internal and external sources where internal source might get the preference. As an internal source, innovative behaviour and actions from the employees are irrefutable for continuous nurturing and improvement of innovativeness in an organization (de Jong & Den Hartog, 2010). From the employee perspective, critical thinking ability and innovativeness are also salient factors in today’s world to remain valuable and viable in the workplace (Christensen-Salem et al., 2021). Leaders can play a significant role to cultivate innovativeness in employee work behaviour (Ruiz-Palomino & Zoghbi-Manrique-de-Lara, 2020) through ensuring equality and environment (Baety & Rojuaniah, 2022). As a result, academic researchers explored link between various leadership styles and employee innovative behaviour at the workplace (Alheet et al., 2021; Khan et al., 2012; Odoardi et al., 2015).
