Abstract
This essay appeared in the Nov/Dec 2005 issue of Diversity Inc, a magazine with a circulation of 100,000 subscribers.* DiversityInc's editorial mission is to provide clarity and education on the business benefits of diversity. A corporate culture built on devoted loyalty, where employees willingly turn over a portion of their pay to help their company survive economic hard times, seems unlikely these days, especially in the highly competitive airline industry.
