Abstract
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is an inexpensive, fast-acting, and relatively hemodynamically stable gas used in anesthesia. It is used in the induction and maintenance of anesthesia in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is one of the most common adverse events after anesthesia, and nitrous oxide has long been linked to contributing to postoperative nausea and vomiting.
