Mechanical engineering is perhaps the most diverse of the engineering professions. It opens doors to opportunities in manufacturing, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, transportation, automotive, aerospace, power generation and many other industries. Gonzaga University’s Mechanical Engineering faculty provide students with a broad foundation in a variety of mathematical, scientific and engineering concepts, including topics such as chemistry, physics, mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, materials, manufacturing, design, control theory, experimentation and economics. In addition, courses and lab experiences provide practical skills in mathematical techniques and computer tools such as computer-aided design (CAD) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Students gain experience in developing and practicing the design process through hands-on project experiences starting in their sophomore year and extending into a senior design project.
