Abstract
Gonzaga University's MA/TESOL program developed organically from within the university's ESL program, guided by a philosophical model comprising of three modes of authority: compassion, scholarship, and invention (Jeannot, 1997). This article assesses the success of the model from the faculty and student perspectives.
