Description

In recent years as the preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) field has expanded to include a wider range of services, former violent extremists have been included in various roles. Formers often play integral roles in multidisciplinary teams and in individual efforts to combat violent extremist and hate-based movements globally. Formers are engaged in primary, secondary and tertiary prevention initiatives, which cover a wide range response methods to violent extremism.The aim of this study is to isolate and build knowledge on how ethical standards might be created for formers who work in the P/CVE field. Professionalization and ethical considerations involving formers may improve the implementation of P/CVE programming widely.
