Comments
Gloria Chien’s presentation discusses Hindu fundamentalists’ attack of films that challenge the image of Hindutva, or Hinduness. She has selected two films that exemplify these critiques: Deepa Mehta’s Fire (1997) and Rajkumar’s PK (2014). Both films have created furor and have been considered to be anti-Hindu and disrespectful to Hinduism by Hindu fundamentalist groups, such as BJP, RSS, and Shiv Sena.
