With the rise of social media platforms, so much of our lives are online. Although social networks have many advantages, they can also be a place for the spread of hate. This article analyzes the presence of hate speech on the main social media platforms in Spain, based on 1691 reported comments. The data collected are unique and may help future research. It was found that most of the hate messages are aimed at a collective and the triggers are usually caused by episodes related to citizen insecurity. In addition, it was also found that the effectiveness of content removal is low. Therefore, it is proposed to implement more effective measures to address this problem and improve moderation and reporting on social networking platforms.
